Our Sliding Sash Windows
We’ve partnered with renowned industry experts Quickslide and their sliding sash windows are a popular addition to our catalogue. We’ve already helped hundreds of homeowners improve their homes, and we’ve had a lot of positive feedback on our sliding sash range.
Sliding sash windows are a traditional style that can be traced back to the 17th century and are normally made with wood, but we use modern uPVC. We ensure they have an authentic heritage look but without any of the associated issues such as warping or water damage. If you live in an older-style home and are keen to refresh your fittings, our sliding sash windows will deliver a traditional look but with a modern performance.
We can customise these windows with a number of additional features and replicate the look of Georgian, Victorian or Edwardian designs. With a variety of colour finishes and hardware, you’re sure to find the right windows for you. Contact us today and learn more.
Features
Our uPVC sliding sash windows are primarily associated with traditional and heritage properties, but they are still highly customisable. We have a range of features to ensure that despite their old-fashioned charm, you’ll be able to personalise them in a variety of ways.
These include stylistic choices and things that can improve energy efficiency, security, noise insulation and more. Click on the icons to the right to learn more.
Energy Efficient Glazing
We install double glazing as standard, with argon gas between the panes for extra thermal efficiency. This helps our windows achieve U-values of 1.4 W/m²K and an energy rating of A+, but we can improve them even further with an optional triple glazing upgrade.
High-Security Locking
We provide reliable and high-quality locking mechanisms with our sliding sash windows, but can improve them even further with our optional PAS24 package. They’ll keep out unwanted intruders and ensure your home stays safe.
Durable Hardware
We have a wide range of accessories and hardware available, from classic door knobs and heritage locks to lift hooks and more. They’re all designed to be robust and long-lasting, so can withstand repeated use and exposure to the elements.
Why Choose Sliding Sash Windows?
If you live in a period property, a heritage home or any sort of traditional house, sliding sash windows are a natural choice. For these buildings, it’s important to get windows that deliver a superior performance but don’t compromise the aesthetics, especially if you’re subject to stricter building regulations. Our sliding sash windows are perfect for retaining the characteristics of an older-style house while upgrading security standards and energy efficiency.
Our sliding sash windows can also be customised for a slightly more modern style. We can provide windows with a custom split, where the sashes can be designed to tilt as well as slide. This increases their functionality and gives you more options to ventilate your living space.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Sliding Sash Windows The Same As Vertical Sliders?
Yes, you may have heard both terms but they refer to the same thing; a window that comprises two sashes that slide past one another to open and close.
Why Do You Use uPVC Rather Than Wood?
We understand that wooden windows have an inherent appeal, but they have their weaknesses. Wood is more prone to suffering from water damage and can also warp when temperatures fluctuate, but uPVC doesn’t have these problems. Moisture can’t penetrate the surface so these windows require less maintenance. Plus, we have woodgrain finishes available, so you can get the look and feel of wood without any of the drawbacks.
Do You Have Anything To Prevent These Windows From Being Opened Too Far?
We can fit our sash windows with security restrictors to prevent them from being opened too far and suffering accidental damage.
Are Sliding Sash Windows Easy To Clean?
Yes, cleaning them is perfectly straightforward. You can get them sparkling using nothing more fancy than a bucket of warm water, a sponge and over-the-counter cleaning products. You don’t need any specialist chemicals or anything and the only thing we would recommend is don’t use bleach or other harsh cleaning solutions.
What’s The Difference Between Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian Sash Windows?
There are a few subtle differences between the three, but the main way to tell the difference is in how the sashes are divided. A Georgian sliding sash window is usually divided by astragal bars into a “six over six” design, while Victorian sliding sash windows have slightly more glass in a “four over four” style. Edwardian windows mix the two, so are either “six over four” or “four over six.”
